Glacisstrasse

  • 1945, May – But as far as our hunger was concerned, we were told, that we would be fed at the refugee camp on Glacisstrasse, but there the rooms were empty, with Russian sentries sleeping on the top floor. So the walk was entirely in vain. Now someone on the street told us there was a camp, I think on Marggrafenstrasse. There we found only an army hospital, but no food. Then, still hungry and after an impossible night, we walked right through all the destruction of the city center. **p514
